Now serving Northern Colorado Custom doors & fronts, made by our Denver manufacturing partner

Full-Overlay Cabinet Front Conversion

A new kitchen
starts at the
front.

More than new doors. A full-overlay cabinet transformation.

We keep your sound cabinet boxes, professionally paint the exposed frames, and replace the visible fronts with full-overlay PET doors and drawer fronts. Add optional new drawer boxes, glides, and hinges for a kitchen that looks and works like new. We measure and engineer the whole conversion — you never touch a tape measure.

Not traditional veneer refacing.

  • Full-overlay PET fronts
  • Painted frames
  • Optional drawer & hardware upgrades

Refacing vs. replacement vs. MOD Fronts

Save the boxes.
Upgrade everything you see and use.

Not veneer refacing, and not a full tear-out. Get the look and function of new cabinetry without the cost, demolition, and disruption of a full cabinet replacement — by keeping your structurally sound boxes and renewing everything you see and touch.

Traditional veneer refacing

Keeps your existing cabinet boxes and typically resurfaces the exposed cabinet areas with a veneer layer while replacing the doors and drawer fronts. It refreshes the visible surfaces, largely leaving the layout and function as they are.

Full cabinet replacement

Best when the cabinet boxes are unsound or you need a major layout change. It delivers an all-new kitchen, but normally involves more demolition, disruption, time, and expense.

Not veneer refacing — a full-overlay conversion

The MOD Fronts full-overlay conversion

We keep your structurally sound cabinet boxes, then professionally prepare and finish the exposed frames with a durable waterborne acrylic cabinet coating and fit new full-overlay PET doors and drawer fronts — rather than presenting a conventional veneer-wrap job. From there we can add new drawer boxes, glides, and soft-close hinges, storage accessories, selected cabinets, partial layout changes, and countertop coordination.

A finish designed to stay finished.

Our PET doors and drawer fronts arrive with a durable, factory-applied finished surface. They do not require routine painting, staining, or refinishing. If an individual front is ever seriously damaged, it can typically be replaced without redoing the entire kitchen.

The painted cabinet frames are a separate surface: depending on wear, they may eventually need touch-ups over time, while the PET fronts themselves aren’t routine-refinishing surfaces.

Which option fits?

  • MOD Fronts — for structurally sound cabinet boxes and a meaningful visual and functional upgrade.
  • Full replacement — for unsound boxes or a complete layout reinvention.
  • Traditional refacing — a lighter, surface-level refresh that resurfaces visible areas and swaps the fronts.

How It Works

Six steps to a
full-overlay kitchen.

MOD Fronts handles the parts that are easy to get wrong. Your sound cabinet boxes stay in place — we paint the frames, fit full-overlay PET fronts, and upgrade the hardware you choose.

  1. 01

    Inspect

We come to your home at no cost and confirm your cabinet boxes are structurally sound and suitable for a full-overlay conversion.

  2. 02

    Engineer

A designer professionally measures every opening and plans the full-overlay conversion. You never submit measurements yourself.

  3. 03

    Select

Review real, physical PET samples, colors, and door styles in your own kitchen light — next to your countertops and floors.

  4. 04

    Upgrade

Choose optional new drawer boxes, glides, and concealed soft-close hinges where you want your kitchen to work better, not just look better.

  5. 05

    Prepare & paint

Exposed cabinet frames are professionally prepared and finished with a durable waterborne acrylic cabinet coating, engineered to cure into a hard, washable finish for everyday kitchen use.

  6. 06

    Install & align

We fit the new full-overlay doors and drawer fronts and adjust the hardware for consistent, even reveals across the whole kitchen.

Beyond New Fronts

Keep the cabinets.

A MOD Fronts project can go well beyond appearance. Depending on your kitchen, we can add modern drawer systems, concealed hardware, pull-out storage, corner solutions, cabinet modifications, or select new cabinets — bringing many of the conveniences associated with new cabinetry while keeping the sound boxes you already have.

The Transformation

Looks new.
Works new.

A full-overlay conversion changes far more than the doors. We paint the exposed cabinet frames, fit full-overlay PET doors and drawer fronts, and can add new drawer boxes, glides, and soft-close hinges — all while keeping your structurally sound cabinet boxes in place.

The layout you know stays put — the plumbing, the appliances, the boxes. What changes is the color, the clean full-overlay lines, and how smoothly your drawers and doors open and close. It’s a cleaner, faster path to a kitchen that looks and functions new, without tearing your home apart.

Questions

Common questions

How much does a MOD Fronts conversion cost?

Every kitchen is different, so the investment varies with kitchen size, the front style and finish you choose, hardware, storage upgrades, countertop coordination, and any layout changes. Get the look and function of new cabinetry without the cost, demolition, and disruption of a full cabinet replacement. Your free in-home estimate is where we establish the exact scope and pricing for your kitchen — with no obligation.

Is this cabinet refacing?

Not in the traditional sense. Traditional veneer refacing applies a veneer layer to the exposed cabinet frames. Instead, we professionally prepare and paint the exposed frames and replace the doors and drawer fronts with full-overlay PET fronts. We call it a full-overlay conversion.

What are PET doors and drawer fronts?

PET is the finished surface used on the new doors and drawer fronts. It comes in a wide range of modern finishes — matte solids, natural woodgrains, and high-gloss Reflekt — and it’s the smooth face you see and touch every day.

What does “full overlay” mean?

Full overlay means the doors and drawer fronts cover most of the cabinet face, leaving only a small, even gap between them. The result is a cleaner, more modern look than styles that show more of the frame.

Do you paint the cabinet frames?

Yes. We professionally prepare and paint the exposed cabinet frames — the real frames — rather than applying veneer, so they coordinate with your new full-overlay fronts.

Can you replace drawer boxes, glides, and hinges?

Yes, where you choose to. New drawer boxes, glides, and concealed soft-close hinges are optional upgrades that improve how your kitchen works, not just how it looks. We can also add functional storage — pull-out waste systems, Le Mans corner systems, lazy susans, roll-out trays, and drawer inserts — where your cabinets allow. We’ll review the options during your in-home estimate.

Can you modify cabinets or change part of the layout?

In many cases, yes. Beyond the full-overlay conversion, we can consider select cabinet additions, cabinet modifications, and partial layout changes — and select new cabinets where the layout needs more than a front conversion. What’s practical depends on the condition, dimensions, and configuration of your existing cabinetry, which we review during the free in-home estimate.

Can you help with new countertops too?

Yes. If you’re thinking about new countertops as part of the update, ask during your in-home estimate and we can coordinate countertop options alongside the rest of your kitchen plan, so the fronts, frames, and surfaces work together.

Who measures my kitchen?

We do. A MOD Fronts designer visits your home, inspects your cabinet boxes, and professionally measures and engineers the full-overlay conversion. You never submit measurements yourself.

Can my existing cabinet boxes be reused?

Usually, yes. If your cabinet boxes are structurally sound, we keep them in place and build the conversion around them. We confirm this during the in-home inspection before any work is scheduled.

Where are the doors and drawer fronts made?

Your custom full-overlay doors and drawer fronts are made in Denver by a specialized manufacturing partner, built to your exact openings. MOD Fronts designs, measures, and coordinates the project.
